Product & Quality Intelligence
Standards, Traceability & Sustainability Knowledge
Technical reference content is presented to support commercial qualification and supplier-buyer discussions.
International Alloy Standards
Alloy designation and equivalency references may be used for initial qualification. Final chemistry, tolerances and acceptance criteria must be confirmed against the applicable standard and producer documentation for each transaction.
Supplier Quality Documentation
Where required, supplier certifications, inspection reports, certificates of analysis and traceability documents are reviewed for the specific producer and shipment before commercial confirmation.
Sustainability Documentation
Recycled content, carbon-footprint and sustainability claims are presented only when supported by current, product-specific or producer-specific documentation with a clear scope and source.
Aluminium series — properties and typical uses
1000 Series
Minimum 99% aluminium; ductile, easy to shape and a good conductor. Typical uses include electrical applications, aviation, food packaging and foils.
2000 Series
Copper-based high-strength alloys; additional Mg/Mn/Si enable further heat treatment. Typical uses include aviation and automotive.
3000 Series
Manganese-based; about 20% higher strength than 1000 series while retaining core properties. Used in construction, roofing, cladding, energy, automotive, kitchen products and beverage cans.
4000 Series
Silicon-based; strength increases with silicon content. Good mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, machinability and weldability. Used in automotive components, solder plates and welding rods.
5000 Series
Magnesium-based, strong among non-heat-treated alloys, with high corrosion resistance and weld strength. Used in marine, construction, automotive and energy.
6000 Series
Magnesium + silicon; heat-treatable, corrosion resistant and suitable for extrusion. 6063 and 6061 are highlighted as common extrusion alloys. Used in automotive, marine and medical sectors.
7000 Series
Zinc-based, with Mg and other additions; among the strongest aluminium alloys. Used in aerospace, medical and automotive sectors.
8000 Series
Purpose-designed alloys using elements such as lithium, tin and iron for lower density, hardness, high-temperature performance or fatigue resistance. Used in aviation and food/pharmaceutical packaging.
Knowledge Base
Aluminium Designation & Temper Reference
Practical aluminium designation, temper and standards references are available directly within the CELEBIOGLU TRADE site.
Temper Designation System — EN
Basic temper designations use F, O, H, W and T. F = as fabricated; O = annealed; H = strain-hardened; W = solution heat treated; T = thermally treated to produce stable tempers other than F, O or H.
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| H1 | Strain-hardened only |
| H2 | Strain-hardened and partially annealed |
| H3 | Strain-hardened and stabilized by temperature treatment |
| H4 | Strain-hardened and subjected to paint bake cycle |
| T4 | Solution heat treated and naturally aged |
| T6 | Solution heat treated and artificially aged to maximum strength |
| T7 | Solution heat treated and artificially overaged |
| T8/T9 | Solution heat treated, cold worked and artificially aged |
Casting Alloy Designation — EN 1780 / ANSI AA
EN casting designations use EN + A + C, followed by a five-digit numerical composition or chemical symbols. Example: EN AC-42000KT6 / EN AC-Al Si7Mg0.3. The AA casting system uses four-digit numerical designations such as A356.0.
| Group | EN family |
|---|---|
| Copper | 2XXXX / 21XXX / AlCu |
| Silicon | 4XXXX — 41/42/43/44/45/46/47/48XXX |
| Magnesium | 5XXXX / 51XXX / AlMg |
| Zinc | 7XXXX / 71XXX / AlZnMg |
Wrought Alloy Designation
Wrought aluminium alloys are commonly designated by EN AW / AA four-digit systems. The first digit identifies the major alloy family: 1xxx commercially pure aluminium, 2xxx copper, 3xxx manganese, 4xxx silicon, 5xxx magnesium, 6xxx magnesium-silicon, 7xxx zinc and 8xxx other alloying systems.
Cross-Reference Standards
Cross-reference work may compare aluminium grades across EN, DIN, ISO, ANSI/AA, BS, AFNOR, UNE, UNS, JIS, CSA and SIS systems. Representative examples include EN AW-1050A / AA1050A, EN AW-2017A / AA2017A, EN AW-5083 / AA5083, EN AW-6060 / AA6060, EN AW-6061 / AA6061, EN AW-6082 / AA6082 and EN AW-7075 / AA7075.
DIN is the German standards system; EN is the European Norm system; ISO uses composition-based alloy naming; AA is the Aluminum Association system; BS, AFNOR, UNE, UNS, JIS, CSA and SIS provide corresponding national or regional designation frameworks.
Aluminium Casting Methods
Aluminium casting processes are selected according to geometry, alloy family, required properties and production method. Final process and alloy suitability should be confirmed with the relevant producer for each application.
